If you’ve read this blog at all for even a short period of time, then you will know that I love really good photography. (I try to take pictures myself, with questionable results sometimes) One of my favorite photographers has got to be Wendi Poole. Wendi is the photographer who shot our wedding and recently started a new photography business with a friend. I’m not sure how long her website has been up, but I just got a google alert on my name that directed me to a post on her new photo blog. It is just starting, but I am sure there will be lots of good things to come. If you are interested in photography or if you are in need of a great photographer in the San Antonio area I highly reccomend Wendi.
I loved getting a chance to make this video. It is celebrating 2 of the water wells that CBC funded through Living Waters International in Gulu, Uganda. All of the footage was gathered by the Outbound team at CBC. Amazingly a lot of the footage was shot on a Canon SD800 point and shoot camera. I decided to use the old film look to cover up the low resolution and the shakiness of the shots, and to give it a gritty look. The voice on the video is David Mann, the leader of Outbound at CBC, speaking to the CBC staff at our Monday praise and prayer meeting. I loved searching through the long audio clip to find the perfect sound bytes to tell the story. This video will show this coming weekend at church, so you are getting a little sneak peak. Let me know what you think.
I just found some of the best inspiration for photographing Parker and any kids that follow him. This guy has created a photoblog of his girls and takes some of the funniest, most creative pictures I’ve seen. It gets my mind churning for ideas of pictures to take of Parker. The thing is, he pretty much only sleeps right now and he can’t really hold his head up. I’m not going to let that stop me.
In case you haven’t looked at my flickr page recently, you should go check out the pictures we just took for his announcement that we are designing ourselves. Christina was an amazing help, and Parker really was very cooperative for an 18 day old.
I couldn’t resist posting this after reading it again. I may start posting quotes from Narnia every once in a while. How long has it been since you’ve read these stories? I promise you’ll find more meaning this time than when you were a kid.
“Are you not thirsty?” said the Lion. “I am dying of thirst,” said Jill. “Then drink,” said the Lion. “May I — could I — would you mind going away while I do?” said Jill. The Lion answered this only by a look and a very low growl. And as Jill gazed at its motionless bulk, she realized that she might as well have asked the whole mountain to move aside for her convenience. The delicious rippling noise of the stream was driving her nearly frantic. “Will you promise not to — do anything to me, if I do come?” said Jill. “I make no promise,” said the Lion. Jill was so thirsty now that, without noticing it, she had come a step nearer. “Do you eat girls?” she said. “I have swallowed up girls and boys, women and men, kings and emperors, cities and realms,” said the Lion. It didn’t say this as if it were boasting, nor as if it were sorry, nor as if it were angry. It just said it. “I daren’t come and drink,” said Jill. “Then you will die of thirst,” said the Lion. “Oh dear!” said Jill, coming another step nearer. “I suppose I must go and look for another stream then.” “There is no other stream,” said the Lion.
I am the Associate Pastor of Video Production at Community Bible Church in San Antonio, TX. This does not mean, however, that CBC agrees with anything or everything that I post here. Everything I post is my personal opinion.
What I'm Doing...
Reading "War and Peace". Not sure why I am. I want to feel scholarly. I'm not really intending to finish it anytime soon. 20 hrs ago
